Tearfund – Food Waste Feast

It was great to be the official photographer for this Tearfund event which is such a great cause.

As part of their ‘Renew Our World‘ campaign Tearfund Action have launched a call to action on food waste. Around 1/3 of the food we produce goes to waste, we could fill Wembley Stadium 9 times over with the food we waste in the UK each year and the average household could save £470 per year if it didn’t waste it’s food.

Tearfund aims to bring people together to celebrate the food we have been blessed with, and start conversations about how we can all gather up the pieces to renew our food at home, in our churches and to call on UK Supermarkets to half their food waste by 2030, in line with Sustainable Development Goal 12.

As part of their work, Tearfund held a ‘Food Wate Feast’ at the Woodlands Church in Bristol. This egg-cellent event used food that would otherwise go to waste which was provided by FareShare South West.

The event hosted a panel style conversation as part of the evening which boasted one half of the Baker Brothers Tom Herbert, Bristol MP Kerry McCarthy, Fareshare South West Director Julian Mines and Tearfund’s Clare Lyons.

The event was centred around the meal as everyone discussed how we can renew our world by renewing the way we consume our food. There was live music and drinks on arrival, an amazing feast, great speakers and the opportunity to learn lots of top tips. It was certainly an event not to be missed with free entry!
